Description
The household appliances containing mercury:
- fluorescent lamps (these are gas-discharge tubes in which there are inert gases and vapors of mercury). All such lamps contain mercury - from 40 to 70 mg.
- mercury thermometers;
- devices for measurement of pressure (manometers).
Thermometers are in each house, they glass and easily break when falling. Mercury balls at the same time are easily rolled up in cracks of a floor or soaked up in a carpet.
Fluorescent lamps are quite often thrown out together with household waste in trash cans where they easily fight, and vapors of mercury get to the surrounding atmosphere.
