Design of the lamellar heat exchanger

The lamellar heatexchange device consists of the package of plates which is pulled together between basic and clamping plates by means of hairpins, to the settlement size. The heat exchange surface in the heat exchanger is formed by a set of corrugated metal plates on which for ensuring tightness, rubber consolidations are established. Plates in the heatexchange device are established in such a way that everyone the subsequent is developed on 180, channels on which Wednesdays move are so formed. Tightness of the assembled heatexchange device, allows to use them with a pressure from 6 bar to 25 bars.

Principle of operation of the heatexchange device

The principle of operation of the lamellar heatexchange device is based on transfer of heat between adjacent plates. Cold and hot environments come to the heatexchange device, without mixing up with each other. The movement of liquids in the heatexchange device is carried out, as a rule, the friend towards to the friend, thus, there is a heat exchange process. Each of the parties is isolated by sealing laying that allows to exclude mixing of environments. In case of violation of tightness of sealing laying leak outside, can be visualized and eliminated. Ensuring tightness during the operation of the heatexchange device, it is reached by tightening of a package of plates to the settlement size. Also coupling hairpins allow to carry out quickly dismantling and assembly of the heatexchange device, thereby providing access to all heatexchange surface.

Characteristic of a plate

Plates are made from 0,5 to 1,0 mm thick of corrosion-resistant material: AISI 316 steel at the request of AISI 304, SMO, Hasterloy (heat resisting alloys on the basis of nickel) the titan, etc. Material of a plate is chosen proceeding from scope of the lamellar heatexchange device and conditions of its operation. The plate has openings for pass of the environment and distribution on channels. At an entrance on a plate the heat carrier comes to a distributive zone which allows to distribute evenly liquid and to avoid "dead zones" on a plate. Between the top and lower zones, the surface of heat exchange of a plate which has the corrugated surface allowing to create a turbulent stream and to intensify heat exchange process is located.

All models of plates of ARES are identical with other models as (SONDEX, DANFOSS, RIDAN)

The standard plates of a series A released by the ARES company, have two types of goffering: with an acute and obtuse angle of a chevron.

Plate with an obtuse angle:

  • High turbulization of a stream
  • High heat transfer
  • High loss of pressure

Plate with an acute angle:

  • Low turbulization of a stream
  • Low heat transfer
  • Low loss of pressure

The lamellar heatexchange device consists of plates of one type or their combination. The quantity of plates in the heatexchange device their configuration, depends on the thermal power, heatphysical properties of environments, and also temperature parameters and admissible loss of pressure.
