Annealing — the type of heat treatment of metals, alloys consisting in heating to a certain temperature, endurance during certain time at this temperature and the subsequent, usually slow, cooling to room temperature. When annealing return processes (rest of metals), recrystallization and homogenization are carried out. The annealing purposes — decrease in hardness for simplification of machining, improvement of a microstructure and achievement of bigger uniformity of metal, removal of internal tension. Annealing is preliminary operation of the heat treatment preparing structure of steel for the subsequent technological operations, for example, to processing of preparations on metal-cutting machines and final heat treatment (training with holiday) details.
